The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has added another $170,000 to the 2nd Congressional District race according to reports dated October 12 and 13. This brings the DCCC’s spending in the southernmost congressional district to over $435,000.

The race is a close one between Rep. Harry Teague, a Democrat, and former Rep. Steve Pearce, a Republican. Pearce previously held the seat before leaving it for an ultimately unsuccessful Senate run.

The most recent expenditures, posted on the Sunlight Foundation’s Follow the Unlimited Money website, were for $117,718 on October 12 and another $52,891 on October 13. Both are earmarked “media buy.”

A week ago, the DCCC spent about $250,000 on airing ads and media production.

This brings the money spent against Pearce by independent groups to $1,203,298.59. There has been $479,238.11 spent by independent groups against Teague; this includes $185,000 spent by the National Republican Campaign Committee against Teague last week.
