Incumbent state treasurer James Lewis has $15,400 cash on hand—a lot more money than his Republican opponent Jim Schoonover, who has just over $1,000 , according to the final campaign finance report before Tuesday’s election.

The campaign finance period covered from October 4 to October 26.

Lewis finished the period with $15,400 cash on hand after raising nearly $13,000 and spending almost $24,000.

Schoonover, meanwhile, finished the campaign finance period with just over $1,000 cash on hand after spending $1,300 and raising just over $1,800.

Lewis received three donations of $1,000 in the period, from the Bingaman Re Election Campaign, the New Mexico Federation of Labor and ICBA/NM PAC, a banking PAC.

Schoonover’s largest donation in the period was $500 from retired Española businessman Richard Cook.

Lewis’ largest expenditure in the period was $19,064.95 for radio and print production from Wayne Schener & Co.

Schoonover’s largest expense was a $571.53 reimbursement for “political ads” paid to himself.
