Martinez leads Denish by 10, ABQ Journal poll says

Republican Susana Martinez leads Democratic Lt. Gov. Diane Denish by 10 points in New Mexico’s governor’s race according to the latest Albuquerque Journal poll. Martinez’s increased lead appears to come from her ability to woo many previously undecided voters over the past month.

Martinez received support from 52 percent of 1,003 likely voters surveyed Wednesday and Thursday by Albuquerque-based Research and Polling, Inc., compared to the 42 percent backing for Denish, a Journal story explained.

Martinez’s double-digit lead in the Journal Poll appears to confirm the Republican’s growing support other recent voter surveys have found.

It also seems to confirm that many previously undecided voters are flocking to Martinez.

An earlier survey by the Albuquerque Journal Poll in late September found 47 percent of those surveyed supporting Martinez, compared to 41 percent for Denish, with 12 percent of voters undecided.
