Gary Johnson travels to Florida to ‘test’ presidential waters

By | 11.30.10 | 1:32 pm

Former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson traveled to Florida with “campaign-style stops” in Tallahassee, Melbourne and Orlandom, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Johnson spoke about cutting taxes, cutting spending and, yes, legalizing marijuana.

“The issue of marijuana legalization is obviously an attention-getter,” Johnson told The Times. “And you can’t shy away from it. I have to defend it. I have to defend the position.”

Johnson served two terms as governor of New Mexico and made his money from a construction company in New Mexico.

Johnson, who has said that he cannot say whether or not he is running for president because of his role with his non-profit the Our America Initiative, distributed the story that mentioned a potential presidential run on his Twitter page.
