Uncertainty over the future of film incentives in the state legislature have already caused some potential film projects to reconsider filming in New Mexico according to a local TV station’s report. One TV series may has already taken a pass on filming in the state.

KOAT reported on the effects of the uncertainty of the future of the film program today.

“The production companies are telling me that they want to wait and see what happens with the legislature,” film producer Alton Walpole told KOAT.

Gov. Susana Martinez has called for the state film incentive program to be reduced from a 25 percent rebate to a 15 percent rebate. A House committee recently passed legislation that would cap money spent on film incentives at $45 million.
