Gov. Susana Martinez named Albuquerque Chief Public Safety Officer Darren White, former Albuquerque deputy police chief Michael Castro and three others to the Judicial Standards Commission, her office announced Tuesday.
Martinez also named former New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission director Larry Tackman, Community Against Violence, Inc. Executive Director Malinda Williams and legal secretary Darla Wax to the commission.
White supported Martinez in her election bid and was part of her search Homeland Security & Emergency Management Search Committee during Martinez’s transition. He previously served as the secretary of the state Department of Public Safety under Gov. Gary Johnson.
Castro donated $5,000 to Martinez’s campaign.
The Judicial Standards Commission is an independent agency that is tasked with investigating judicial misconduct from New Mexico judges and judicial candidates. Each state has its own Judicial Standards Commission.
