The New Mexico Supreme Court ruled unanimously Wednesday against Gov. Susana Martinez’s usage of a line-item veto, marking the third time she has lost in court since taking office at the beginning of the year. The court ruled in favor of six state legislators who argued that the governor improperly used her line-item veto in cutting a low-income housing program budgeted by legislators for $150,000 down to $50,000.
The ruling restores the amount providing oversight to regional housing authorities to $150,000.
A decision on her veto of a $128 million tax on small businesses to shore up the state’s unemployment compensation fund is expected in several weeks.
