To follow-up on an earlier blog post by Kate Nelson, there is at least one Santa Fe newspaper that believes the election is a foregone conclusion.

The New Mexico Sun News will never be considered part of the traditional or mainstream media, and the bi-monthly paper proved this again with its latest printing. According to CNN, the paper’s “special collector’s edition,” already out on newsstands, declares Democrat Barack Obama the winner of the presidential election.

The Sun News is a bi-monthly newspaper and its Oct. 26-Nov. 8 issue had to hit the streets, and the newsstands, before the election. So the editors decided to make a leap of faith and declare Democrat Barack Obama the winner.

This makes “Dewey Defeats Truman” look almost well-thought out.

“When it comes to calling the winner of a presidential election, everyone wants to be first. The New Mexico Sun News hereby claims that achievement,” the cover article reads.

This is decidedly off-message from what the Obama campaign is telling people. In an online video, the Obama campaign uses humor to remind supporters of the dangers of taking something for granted.
