AP and CBS call Senate race for Udall; CBS calls N.M. for Obama

Based on exit polling, The Associated Press and CBS Evening News have declared Rep. Tom Udall as the winner in New Mexico’s U.S. Senate race.

Minutes ago, CBS put New Mexico into Sen. Barack Obama’s growing count. The state’s five Electoral College votes put Obama to 199 of the 270 votes he needs to win; John McCain had 124, according to the CBS tally.

New Mexico polls have been closed for only a few minutes, and results from early voting and absentee ballots are just beginning to be posted.
