Guv continues the silent treatment « New Mexico Independent

Gov. Bill Richardson again refused to answer questions about the deal at the center of a federal probe that threatens to push itself into his office.
“Have you been questioned by a grand jury?” a reporter asked during a press conference the governor held to announce his state budget proposal.
“I’m not going to ask any questions on that, ” Richardson responded.
The guv also refused to answer whether his administration had conducted an internal investigation to ensure that state officials had done nothing improper in a deal that has caught the interest of federal prosecutors.
He did, however, answer a question that was once much on the minds of people.
“Governor, is the beard back?” yelled Steve Terrell of the Santa Fe New Mexican.
“Yes,” the governor responded, prompting laughter.
Richardson grew a beard after dropping out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, but shaved it off prior to his nomination as U.S. commerce secretary.
