More television ads by health insurance industry groups opposing health care reform being debated in Congress are airing in New Mexico, according to George Stephanopoulos. The ads, targeting seniors on Medicare Advantage, are being aired by American Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).

As Stephanolpoulos writes on ABCnews.com:

“Is it right to ask 10 million seniors on Medicare Advantage for more than their fair share?” asks the ad’s narrator. “Congress is proposing more than $100 billion in cuts to Medicare Advantage. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says many seniors will see cuts in benefits.”

The ad doesn’t touch on the controversial study commissioned by AHIP. The firm that conducted the study, PriceWaterHouseCooper (PwC), later disavowed the study, admitting that it did not evaluate the entire Senate Finance Committee bill.

The Senate Finance Committee passed the health care reform bill yesterday by a 14-9 vote, including the vote of Senator Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.

In addition to New Mexico, a source tells Stephanopoulos that the ads are airing in Louisiana, Colorado, Missouri, Nevada and Pennsylvania.
