Actor Val Kilmer, a resident of Pecos, N.M., has been roaming the halls of the Roundhouse this week, and today he made an appearance in the House, sitting on the rostrum underneath the seal. Kilmer had a brief flirtation with running for governor last year, but ultimately decided not to run.

Actor Val Kilmer recently told KOB-TV reporter Antoinette Antonio, “I’m not running. I’m looking forward to supporting our Democratic candidate.” So is the Kilmer saga over? Probably.

Actor Val Kilmer — earlier this year rumored to be a Democratic candidate for governor — reportedly owes more than half a million dollars in taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. In recent months, Kilmer has disappeared from nearly any sort of political coverage.

Normally, a movie star being in talks for a role isn’t that big a deal for New Mexico politics. But actor Val Kilmer floated the possibility of a gubernatorial run earlier this year, though he has since disappeared from the state’s political limelight.

While the Democratic side of the race to be New Mexico’s next chief executive seems to be relatively stable, the Republican side could be gaining another person dipping their toes in the gubernatorial waters…  in the form of Albuquerque-based public relations firm owner Doug Turner.

Will he or won’t he? I wrote last night that I didn’t think Kilmer would run after telling New York magazine that he would not.
But, according to a writer at the Daily Beast, Kilmer is keeping his options open.

This weekend, Val Kilmer was caught on video saying that he was “probably not” going to run for governor in 2010. Now according to New York magazine, he appears to have made us his mind while attending Tammy Haddad’s star-studded garden brunch.

Val Kilmer, who is now in Washington D.C. for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, was caught on camera by Politico reporter saying that he is “probably not” going to run for governor in 2010 (in New Mexico, though the Politico blog post originally said Montana).

This afternoon, former Republican Party of New Mexico chairman Allen Weh will announce his decision whether or not to run for governor in 2010.

Contrary to media reports, a new blog called Val Kilmer – The Real Deal isn’t an official Web site of the potential 2010 New Mexico gubernatorial candidate or affiliated with him in any way.

The Washington Examiner criticized the way that actor Val Kilmer is going about schmoozing those in Washington D.C. At least when it’s compared to singer Pete Wentz, most famous for being the singer for Chicago-based Fall Out Boy.

Actor and possible 2010 gubernatorial candidate Val Kilmer is putting his entire 6,000-acre ranch up for sale, according to the Wall Street Journal. The ranch includes a 5,600 square foot, four bedroom home, two guest houses, miles of trout fishing and plenty of wilderness.

Val Kilmer, the movie star turned possible candidate for governor in New Mexico, just keeps getting attention. And he’s getting it from the least likely sources.
Just look at this Craigslist “TV and Radio Jobs” listing titled “Looking For Val Kilmer Impersonator.”
