Democrat Tom Udall will enter the general election in the U.S. Senate race with a massive money lead over either Republican.

All three U.S. Reps. are running for the seat that is being vacated by longtime Republican Sen. Pete Domenici because of health issues.

Heather Wilson and Steve Pearce are running for the Republican nomination; both have been running expensive campaigns filled with much negative advertising on TV and radio.

For the period of April 1 to May 14, the Udall campaign raised $726,345 and spent $431,865, according to a press release from the campaign. Overall, this gives Udall a cash-on-hand total of $2,876,030.

Pearce and Wilson, however, have been spending money faster than they can raise it. According to the Associated Press, Pearce raised "about" $357,000 and spent $964,784 in the same time period. His cash-on-hand total at the end of the reporting period was just $247,207. Wilson raised "about" $291,000 and spent $776,068. She had a cash-on-hand total of $712,476 heading into the final weeks of the primary.

The winner of the Pearce-Wilson primary will face Udall in the general election in November.

The national organizations that also spend money on behalf of their parties also announced their fundraising numbers. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee reported a cash-on-hand total of $37,600,000. Its counterpart, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, has $19,400,000 cash on hand. These numbers are from the end of April.
